these innocent and beautiful creatures do not deserve to be taken away from their families and then used for entertainment. imagine if you got taken away from your home and put in a very small room and then you would be used for shows. please, seaworld, stop stealing orcas from their homes. seaworld is not their home, the ocean is. orcas in the wild have an average lifespan of 30-50 years. orcas in captivity only live up to 13 YEARS OR LESS. orcas in captivity become depressed and unstable. in this case, that is when they do harm humans. more people have been killed by captive orcas than in the wild. so far, only ONE person has been killed by a wild orca. "All captive adult male orcas have collapsed dorsal fins, likely because they have no space in which to swim freely and are fed an unnatural diet of thawed dead fish. SeaWorld claims that this condition is common—however, in the wild, it rarely ever happens and is a sign of an injured or unhealthy orca." there are less than 50,000 orcas left in the world. seaworld has 22 orcas in all three of the parks. 46 orcas have DIED in seaworld. also, if you release a captive orca back into the wild, it will most likely die due to their instincts after being held captive, such as relying on humans. this project is obviously not meant to ultimately end orca captivity (I do wish that would happen!!), but to spread awareness. I believe together, we can stop seaworld and make orca captivity illegal.
