"NOOO!" Sky watched in horror and helplesness as the phoenix's foot came down upon her only hatchling, killing it. Sky was trapped under a tree that had fallen directly on to her when she had least needed it. Tears came to her eyes and she let out the loudest roar she could and blew a burst of flame at the phoenix, knowing that it wouldn't do anything, but it was enough to frighten the phoenix away. After several attempts, Sky managed to worm her way out from under the tree and run to her dead hatchling. This shouldn't have happened! It couldn't have! but it had, and Sky let out another roar of dispair, as if it would somehow fix everything that had happened in the last ten minutes. Sky paused. What was that sound? No, it couldn't be, humans never came this far into the forest! But then it came again: the crying of a human hatchling. Sky followed the sound into the bushes, and there it was. A human hatchling, all by itself, with no sign of the parents anywhere remotely close to it. Sky looked at the human hatchling and felt a wave of pity for it. It was so little and helpless, just like her own hatchling once was, and it's parents were probably killed by that aweful phoenix. Sky knew at once once what she would do. She would take the human hatchling in and care for it herself. She carefully picked it up and carried it to her cave in her mouth and set if down on a bed of leaves and lied down beside it, determined to keep it alive and made a vow to herself to someday get back at that phoenix.
