May stepped past the heavy, stone brick walls that lined the city of Millean, and supressed a shiver as their shadow swooped over her elegant body. She didn't know why, but the whole city seemed as dangerous as a coiled snake to her, lying in wait to attack. May shuddered again and quickened her delicate step. Even the petals of the daisies that were scattered on her pale fur and the leaves on the vines that criss-crossed her seemed to tremble. She lowered her head, letting her auburn fringe flop over her beautiful face. A face which often attracted unwanted attention. Her pool-blue eyes darted from some of the darker alleyways and the bustling streets of the winding, twisting city, flickering across the stalls and the tall, but homely buildings that were squeezed side-by-side between the busy market. A rather worried looking terrier brushed past her, glancing for a millisecond at her fawn-coloured pelt and pale face, belly and legs, before hurrying on down the pavement. May took a deep breath and continued her non-stopping march down the street, confused as to why she was so scared? Had she been here before? In a past life, maybe? Her heart started rattling in her ribcage like a trapped bird. Steeling herself, May shook her head irritably. No. Then a prickling feeling ran down her spine. But whatever it was she was afraid of, it couldn't be good...
