Pressing c clears the pen AND resets the pen to a random color. Same for clicking the green flag. There are 6 colors and 1 possibility for a multicolored trail. There is a VERY small chance (1%) of having a completely white pen trail: this is intentional. Yes, I HAVE gotten it before! (After many green flag clicks)
