Thank you to @Fawna for this awesome contest and the cool theme! This was really fun to do and I hope that you enjoy my entry as much as I enjoyed making it! As you can probably infer, I decided to draw Little Red Riding Hood, but she looks a little more like Big Red Riding Hood, but that doesn't sound very good, so we'll just call her Red. I guess that I was inspired by the book Scarlet by Marissa Meyer that I was reading at the time I came up with this idea. You should definitely read the Lunar Chronicles, it's a really great series. Look very closely and you might see something strange flickering around Red. That's because... I decided to draw her as a kind of wolf girl, trying to fight the animal inside her. This is why the project is titled "The Wild Side". She usually wouldn't flicker this often, but I wanted to make sure you could see the parts that changed. I hope this can count as an animation? And now I want to write a story... The Wild Side By @MiIue I stepped out of the house, my mother calling after me, "Don't forget to give Gran my get-well wishes!" "Don't worry," I called back, "I won't forget." She shut the door as I walked into the woods, muttering my Gran's favorite rhyme over and over. "When the moon goes hollow, I will follow, far away, but not today, today I will sing with the swallow." The rhyme burst into a soft tune hummed as the trees closed in. The green canopy above was sprinkled with leaves that sometimes twisted down, flipping over and tumbling to the ground. One landed on my nose and I compacted my lips and blew it off, breaking the tune. Oops. Too late. I glanced down in horror at the basket in my graying hand that blossomed from tan to dark brown, the blackness spreading out from my hand and to the bottom of the basket. I dropped it and took a sharp intake. Whoops, bad idea. Smells rushed at me, all racing to get inside my nose first. The overwhelming scents gave my a splitting headache and I crumpled to the ground, my hands grasping my forehead, and I felt the furry ears that had sprouted up through my hair. My beloved cloak and simple dress were in tatters around my waist and knees. Getting a grip on the scents, I opened my eyes, golden irises glinting through the darkness of the forest created by the spreading limbs above my head. I rose shakily to my bare feet and howled into the midday sun above the branches. The sound reminded my of the tune I always hummed to keep my wild side at bay. The song returned, and I picked up the lightening basket and continued on my way, skin peaching, clothes mending, ears shrinking, shoes and socks reappearing, eyes returning to ivy green in the process.
