A few people have asked me what a good way to help is, spread the word! Remix this project, make your own, do anything to get this out there! Please comment any small scratchers you know of who deserve the attention and I'll add them here @AquaJay, @AriiFiz, @the-dj-icecream, @toasky/ @kittydogdog, @shiny_kitty, @ghostgirl11, @izacan, @DerpGirl004, @Mineblock5000, @pbrown16, @Dhilly, @ArcanisHD, @CameronHyena, @Emberwing. @SmokeBlaze @Fierr_, @-Amazonite- @AirplanesTruly, @Hillo123, @Melpusheen, @xLittleDreamer, @Gisnestent, here is another problem I forgot to mention- "Another problem you might want to add, is how scratchers who are great at coding, but not art, get so little attention. Art seems to have taken over scratch. So many people on here, in a poll, would decide art over coding because art is visual and for some reason people seem to think just because coding isn't, it's not as good." -
We need to talk... Now I know I'm not the best person to be talking about this topic, because many people have come up to me saying I'm part of the Popularity Problem that's been going around scratch, but, I really need to get this out there. Mimi brings up a lot of important topics too in her project, I suggest you go look at that for more info. https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/150003058/ As most of you may know, there's this issue we are having throughout the scratch community that scratchers and been calling 'The Popularity Problem', now some of you may say stuff like "Ohhh pfffffffft it's not THAT big of a deal. Right?" Well, I'm here to tell you, it is. It effects how people feel about scratch. Many small scratchers may never get noticed by anybody because everyones praising the popular scratchers, and that's the problem. I know MANY small scratchers who are amazing artists, animators, game creators, music artists, ect, who only have... maybe 10-20 followers...? Sometimes less, all because they're new scratchers, and no ones notices them, and this causes them to work extra hard on their projects just to be ignored, and many of them have come up to me asking for a shoutout just to get popular... which is exactly why I took down my 'go follow these amazing people' list on my bio, because there were too many people asking for spots and I didn't have enough room to put them there. I remember a year or so ago when getting 100+ followers was considered being popular, nowadays people with that many push their limits to get 1000+ I am a terrible example for this... I pushed my luck a LOT when I was around 100-300 followers, then, as many of you have noticed and mentioned, once I got around 600-700 I stopped doing animations, maps, ect, and it's making people angry thinking I'm being lazy because I'm 'famous' and I'm only here for the attention, but no, since school kicked in I've had less and less time and motivation to finish anything, heck, I have around 100 MEMES I haven't finished due to lack of motivation and time. I suggest you go find some scratchers with under 50-100 followers and go show them some love. Thank you for listening to me ramble on about stuff no one seems to care about... good day to you all.. Please comment below about your experience with this problem, it could really show how many people are/have been affected by this.
