Well, the first time Jiji, the black cat, went in a random direction to find it and the second time Jiji picked a direction and then turned around a bit till it found the yarn ball. So the answer is, it really depends. Often, the second round is slower, because unless it is really close, it will take a while to go all the way around, but the random isn't much better. The random is, well random!
