Intro for those who can't read it: So.. Let's talk about popularity. We all know what popularity is. Popularity is when someone is appreciated by a large amount of people. But what happens when one person gets too much popularity? ACTUAL Rant: I'm going to be using several examples and quotes for this. I've gotten several replies from Misty herself (sooo sorry if I've gotten your gender wrong..), and opinions from several other scratchers on their thoughts on the problem. *What IS the problem? For those of you new to Scratch, there has been a problem going around that hasn't gotten nearly as much attention as what should be given to it. Ironically, this is the exact problem. While they aren't meaning to, scratchers like Yunnie are preventing many others from getting the spotlight they deserve. Here is a quote from Misty that talks about the problem head on: "ik how you feel, there are way to many scratchers on this site that causes newbies to work hard on their project but eventually when they share them they only get 1 view or just 0. About 3 years ago, when i just started scratch it was easy for a project to get over 40 views by only making the scratch cat talk... ah i miss those days when scratch was just like a family, hate didn't exist then." -@_MistyLight_ And she's exactly right. THIS is the popularity problem. *What are people are doing about it? Nearly nothing. Except for people mentioning it and a single project from a popular scratcher, no one seems to notice the problem, or care. Many small scratchers notice this problem, but are ignored because they aren't "important" enough to be listened to. If more people paid attention to this problem, it could be gotten rid of fairly easily. *How can the problem be fixed? If more people pointed out the problem, and more people paid attention to it, the problem could be fixed quite easily. Everyone needs to help to contribute to fix the problem. Look at more projects. Give more appreciation to those who deserve it. You don't have to ignore the popular scratchers. You just need to stop ignoring the smaller ones.
