*screen completely black* Voice: Oh, you silly, silly child. *screen fades to a winged cat floating aimlessly in water.* V: Long ages have passed by. Things have changed since the writing of the ancient texts. Did you really think that you could rely on them to escape? *cat opens eyes suddenly. Screen blacks out again.* *in the blackness, some light begins to shine through an opened door. The silhouette of a cat pokes inside, then ducks down into the darkness.* Cat1: Ah, here we are. Hall of the Ancient Scrolls. Generally closed off to the public eye, but opened for the viewing pleasure of m’lady- gah! *lights suddenly turn on. The winged cat from before is standing in front of the light switch. The cat who was speaking earlier is on the floor, wincing.* Cat: Ms. Nebula, don’t do that! Nebula: What? It was dark in here. Did you expect me to read in the dark? Cat: No, but we don’t need to announce our presence to the entire Library! N: Lay off, Ion. *looks out the door* Pfah. I don’t see anyone coming. Ion: Couldn’t you just nab some of the scrolls so we can leave? N: No, that would be stealing. You think like a Mundane. *walks over to an aisle of books and scrolls, and pulls one out.* Oh, wait, you are one. I: It isn’t much worse than what we’re doing right now. Unlawful entry and all. N: *puts a scroll back* Can you search the Hall? I: Of course. *a hologram opens in front of him* What should I search for? N: Try the keyword ‘flight.’ *suddenly, some of the scrolls begin to gently glow* N: Alright, now try ‘atmosphere.’ *all of the scrolls fade out except two, which float down to Nebula. She grabs one and begins reading.* N: Aha! Exactly what I was looking for. I: Great! Can I leave? N: Sure, we can leave. But I need to take the scroll with me. I: Fine. *rushes to the door, but then stops for a second* M’lady… N: What? *begins walking over to the door* I: Could I ask…what’s the scroll about? N: Escape velocity. *she flips the switch, and all goes black again.*
@Chillystar for competition character refs are in project, they're not very good I'm aware that this may be confusing, that's the point, it's only part one and I'm introducing the characters and the world slowly cast does not need to be cats. Any creature that can exist with wings or without them can be used instead. I just made them cats because it looks like you draw those often.
