(space) mMM I SURE LOVE AESTHETIC ADOPTS (especially this one) SO I DECIDED TO ENTER FOR HALF OF THEM I don't care if I win or lose I just really want these sO LET'S GET TO THE ACTUAL ADOPTS SHALL WE also the backstories are really long sorry #2 Name: Noctua Species: Jackowl (Jackal-owl hybrid) Gender: Female Personality: Adventurous, daring, freethinking, passionate, flamboyant, defensive, strong-willed, insecure (at times) ♡: Cinnamon, the sky, flying, fairy lights, sunsets, freedom, support ✖: Limitations, going against one's own beliefs, small spaces Backstory: Noctua was born a Jackowl, a hybrid of jackal and owl. She was surrounded by many other Jackowls and hybrids, so this was nothing very strange. When she was about 4 years old, her wings grew big enough to start flying lessons. Like the other pups, she was nothing special at first. However, she had seen other animals fly before, and wanted to be like them. After several tries, she was able to hover above the ground for more than ten seconds. She soon spent all of her spare time practicing flight- she wanted to actually fly. She had a connection with the sky, she could feel it. Of course, every bird and bird hybrid had a connection with the sky- they had wings, it was how they got around. But Noctua wanted to fly in everything she did- she felt it was genuinely fun. Her parents soon worried about this, so they set down boundaries before Noctua. "No going out after the sun sets," "No flying without supervision of an older Jackowl," "No going out alone"- the limitations got stricter and stricter. Everywhere Noctua went, everything she did- there seemed to be yet another rule against it, just like everything else in her world. She couldn't take it. She had to leave. So that's exactly what she did. She was her own independent Jackowl. Her parents were probably worried sick about her- that didn't matter anymore. Her love for them had always been slowly ticking down on them like an alarm clock, and that alarm clock just went off. New, unfamiliar scents flooded her nose- mint, wet tree bark, and her new favorite- cinnamon. She bought some with her own earnings to keep the scent with her everywhere, and to cheer her up when she needed that the most. Then it dawned on her. Why had she been on the ground all this time? She instantly spun into the air, did some flips, and shot into the clouds. Breathless, she stared at the view. Suddenly, a dark, starry shape caught her attention. (continued in next character's backstory) Name: Vega Species: Space-wanderer (form: fennec fox) Gender: Unknown Description of parts of them not shown in picture: Necklace of a single white flower with purple tips, pale orange eyes, navy blue sweatshirt with similar design to this: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/bc/27/b9/bc27b9ce5409449fa060c983e7745c73.jpg (also the wings and dino scales are optional, as is the balloon) Personality: Generous, observant, imaginative, magnanimous, peaceful, introvert, unassertive, forgetful, gullible, hesitant, phlegmatic ♡: Beauty, alone time, night, space, peace, quiet ✖: Large crowds, pollution, others not allowing them not to do what they enjoy Backstory: A starry fox-like shape emerged from the darkness. It was a creature called a space-wanderer; it didn't know who, or even what it was, it just knew that this was the form it wanted to take. Not another one, just this one- it had already spent plenty of time deciding. Where should I go? It thought. A green, red, and blue planet* came into view, and it knew this was where it wanted to go. It hopped from star to star, occasionally floating, until it got there. Slowly, it drifted down to the surface, and landed on some soft, spiky material. It looked up and saw some of the stars it hopped on and more with wonder. It looked around itself. White, sweet-smelling buds dotted the soft spikes like pepper. It marvelled at their beauty. Yes, this was the right choice, it thought, I want to stay on this planet. I already love it here. It soon found a pool of liquid concentrated in one spot, and saw its form in it. It made a yipping sound at it, instinctively, and was surprised at its own noise. Another being emerged from the soft spikes, also startled by the noise it made. It had lighter colored fur, blue and pinkish, round ears, and stars also dotted its fur like it dotted the space-wanderer's. Its form was different than the space-wanderer's, but that didn't matter. "Hi! My name is Callisto! What's yours?" It made a noise, which the space-wanderer somehow understood. The space-wanderer shrank back, into the soft spikes. "Hey, I'm not gonna HURT you!" The creature inched closer. The space-wanderer cowered into the puddle. "Do you even know your name?" The thing asked softly. The space-wanderer shook its head. "Here, let me help you." It obviously meant no harm. It held out its paw. The space-wanderer put its paw in the creature's. It was pulled out of the puddle. "I'm Callisto. I'm a
(continued) lioness from space, and the stars on my pelt reflect that. Are you from space too?" The creature asked. The space-wanderer nodded. "I like coming out here to stargaze and roll around in the grass." So that was what the soft spikes were really called. Grass. "The liquid that you saw- that's called water. It's incredibly safe to drink and play around in, which I love to do. The thing you saw in it- that was your reflection. It just... uh... it's light bouncing off of the water, and sometimes it can do that on other liquids or materials. The light just happened to be you." Callisto explained. "Now what we need to do is give you a name. Since you're from space, like me, I'll call you... hm... Vega. Now, do you want to look at your reflection again?" The newly named space-wanderer nodded. "Wait, first we need to figure out your gender. Are you male or female?" Vega didn't know what these particular words meant, so it shrugged. "Um... then I'll use they/them pronouns on you, then. Gender-neutral is fine, too. Now let's go look at your reflection!" Callisto exclaimed. As soon as Vega saw their reflection, they realized that their ears had been tinted orange and blue. Must be from the atmosphere, they thought. "I'm just curious, may I touch your fur?" Callisto asked. "N-n-NO!" Vega exclaimed, and fierce, blueish energy shot out of their paws. It spiraled around Callisto, surrounding her. What was happening? Why did it do that? Would it always happen when they were mad? Questions instantly flooded Vega's mind. But they didn't matter. They just needed to make this, whatever it was, to stop. They yipped in fear. Callisto hissed at the blue energy engulfing her. Tears rolled down Vega's cheeks. The blue energy calmed down, slowly fading away. Callisto exchanged a blank stare with Vega. They looked down with shame. She came running up to Vega, and swung her arms** around Vega's body. Vega didn't know what Callisto was doing, but had some faint memories of it in past lives***... a hug. That's what it was. They returned the hug. "You know how to talk? You have control of some sort of spirit energy?" Callisto asked. "Y-yeah... I g-guess so. It's n-no big deal. It's a-all coming back.. memories of how to do that, y-y'know?" Vega responded. "What I do know is I have a den near here that we can hang out in... and I can tell you about life here, and we can be best friends! You... you want that, right?" "Of c-course! In m-my past lives that I've had as a space-wanderer... I don't r-remember having m-much anyone who cared about m-me. You're one of the o-only ones... thank you... s-so much." And that's all! I said Noctua's backstory would be continued in Vega's but I don't think there's room-- basically Vega ends up giving her starry eyes to symbolize her passion for the sky/flying, and as a constant reminder to be doing what she loves to be overall happy, and they become friends and stuff. I was GOING to enter for #3 but A. It wouldn't fit here B. I couldn't see myself using them as a character once I came up with a design CREDITS Designs/drawings/characters - @icebluefox Adopts - @bladeberry90 Program - GIMP Song - Lunaria by Chouchou [instrumental] (this song is my aesthetic om-- and then these are aesthetic adopts XD) *The red, green, and blue planet is where most of what I write, draw and animate takes place; its environment and civilization is really similar to Earth's **They're furries in this version btw, if they aren't then Callisto crashes into Vega eagerly ***Space-wanderers live many times and are reborn into whatever form they choose when they die Thanks for reading my exceedingly long backstories lol or maybe you just skipped to the bottom ;u;
