This simulator shows the strength of the gravitational field resulting from these two planets. You can click and drag the planets to move them to change their position. You may also change the mass of the planets by clicking on them and entering a value.
Today in high school physics class, we were working on manually calculating the strength of the field at various locations. This was arduous work to do manually. I noted our good fortune to have access to computers, which are exceptional tools for performing the same calculations over and over again very quickly. I stated I would be able to write a program to calculate the field at several locations in about an hour. They challenged me to do so. Today after school I wrote it in an hour and a half.
