Nebula: A young Winged from the outskirts of Subnautical’s capital. Her family has always been fairly low in the pecking order of Winged rulers, but nevertheless she has many duties that she has recently been appointed. Frustrated and bored with her everyday life, she enjoys finding any way around the rules as a source of excitement, especially flying higher than she should. Most people she knows say she’s going through a phase, which is probably true, but how long it will last and what she will do in it is the question. Nebula rarely looks at details and individuals, and tends to lump things into broad categories very often, making her quite rude at times. She's not very ambitious about anything except discovering how the ancient Wingeds escaped Subnautical, and she knows very little about what lies beyond, trusting on blind luck to get her through. She only knows Ion because he’s an attendant at the Central Library, and only recently began to remember his name. Ion: A fairly high-ranking Mundane who works at the Central Library, where almost all of the ancient historical records are kept. It's a prestigious job for a wingless creature, and he tries to keep it by being fussy and uptight. He has a huge interest in politics, and wants to get as close as he can to a Winged so he can try to influence it somehow. However, he doesn't think he'll ever be able to influence rulers directly. Change comes with time, he thinks, and as long as no aliens from space come, he has plenty to spare. He thinks that Nebula is a bit of a bother, but at the same time he thinks what she's doing is interesting. He might even like her coming to the library somewhat.
