Arrow keys! Another art dump—in honor of Shakespeare Day!! (it’s the 453rd anniversary of his birth and the 401st anniversary of his death, to quote this article: http://www.shakespearegeek.com/2017/04/happy-shakespeare-day-2017.html ) My first Shakespeare art dump: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/116359066/ Second: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/118606917/ Third: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/138199444/ Better quality pictures: http://fall-of-a-sparrow.tumblr.com/ (I also uploaded all the drawings from here) (it was a real struggle to upload all the stuff. the scratch editor isn't Great at mass costume manipulation. you guys had better enjoy this lol [jk]) 1. Richard II. I'm currently kind of obsessed with the history plays... 2. Richard being sad. 3. Richard giving up his crown to Bolingbroke 4. More of Richard being sad, featuring his friend (read: boyfriend) Aumerle 5. Bolingbroke (center) and Mowbray (right) get in a fight. (it's funny how sometimes I draw characters with beards and sometimes I don't) 6. Aumerle being sad 7. Bolingbroke and Aumerle—a scene from a fic I wrote 8. The infamous Gage-Flinging Scene where everyone challenges each other to duels. (to challenge someone to a fight, you throw a gage—often a glove—at them) Featuring unimpressed Bolingbroke. 9. A less serious doodle of the Gage Scene (...they actually run out of gages) 10. Oh look—more Gage Scene! This one's a proper drawing. From left to right – foreground: Hotspur, Bagot – background: Bolingbroke, Aumerle, Surrey, Fitzwater 11. Henry IV (pts. 1 & 2) 12. Prince Hal goofing off in the tavern. There's more context but it's kind of a long story. 13. Kate Percy being sad because her husband (Hotspur) dies 14. Mortimer and his wife 15. Falstaff 16. Bolingbroke historically wore many weird Hats. This has become an inside joke amongst my friends. 17-18. Hal and his best friend (read: boyfriend) Poins 19. Hotspur and Hal—parallels! (also wooo now we get into all my Hotspur drawings. fun) 20. Hotspur's friend Douglas carrying him after he dies... 21. "The land is burning; Percy stands on high: / And either we or they must lower lie." Hotspur being ready for battle. (in case you didn't know, battle is his Favorite Thing) 22. Hotspur and his wife Kate. (I'm prone to drawing stuff of them because Hotspur x Kate is my friend's OTP) 23. Hotspur (center) is very excited about fighting Bolingbroke. Northumberland (left) and Worcester (right) are not. 24. Hotspur is dead and everything is sad. Featuring Prince Hal being sad too (even though he killed him) 25. Digital version of the previous... 26. One of my digital portraits—I discovered this cool pastel-like brush the other week, and subsequently made a lot of these. (all with weird colors) Here's Hotspur, of course. (this is one of my faves!) 27. Douglas carrying Hotspur. I love drawing capes. (cont below)
(cont because I didn't have enough space) 28. HENRY V 29. Historically Accurate Henry (...sans bowlcut though) 30. Henry and Montjoy (the herald) 31. The Dauphin (center), with his "friends" Orléans and the Constable 32. Orléans. Drew this for one of my friends 33. Aaaand let's get into all the Fluellen. He's my favorite after all. Here's him admiring a daffodil (ft. cape because capes are cool) 34. Digital! 35. What if Fluellen had a dragon? (came up with this with one of my friends) ft. skeptical Exeter 36. Fluellen being flappy and awesome. The first thing I drew in my new sketchbook! 37. me & my friend came up with a weird headcanon that Fluellen talks to spiders, so this happened (corynod means spiders in Welsh) 38. Something I drew for St. David's Day (the patron saint of Wales!) 39. Digital portrait (the first one I did!) 40. Fluellen and his friend (read: boyfriend) Gower, each with flowers that correspond to their nationality! One of my friends did the lining for this, and I digitized it. 41. Merry Wives! Fun fact: I read this before I saw it, unlike most plays. (also there's a funny story behind why I decided to read such an obscure play) 42. Hugh Evans (who is Welsh, yay) and Fluellen from Henry V. I think they're brothers lol 43. Caius (left) gets irrationally angry, and challenges Evans (right) to a duel. Evans is very nervous. 44. Master Ford—with imaginary horns, because he's afraid of being cuckolded 45. Two servants take Falstaff out with the laundry and dump him in the river. (part of Mistress Ford & Page's pranks) 46. Another one of the pranks—they get Falstaff to dress up like this forest spirit thing, then all pretend to be fairies and pinch him. It's great. 47. Othello. What a fascinating play... 48. Everyone! 49. Emilia (left), who finds the handkerchief of Desdemona (right) (this is actually a very important plot point) 50. Cassio gets drunk and tries to fight Roderigo. From left to right: Roderigo, Montano, Cassio, Iago. Better quality: https://fall-of-a-sparrow.tumblr.com/image/157800372862 51. Iago, trying to convince Roderigo not to drown himself. (I actually wrote an essay about this scene!) 52. From the last scene—featuring regretful Othello (left), furious Emilia (right), and dead Desdemona (bottom). 53. A digital painting that took me forever and of which I'm really proud!! Better quality: https://fall-of-a-sparrow.tumblr.com/image/158590420251 54. Pericles! What a weird play. 55-56. Pericles and Helicanus 57. Digital portrait thing of Pericles! 58. Hamlet! My fave! (I wrote a screenplay version of this yee) 59. Horatio comforts Hamlet 60. A painting! Dead Hamlet, sad Horatio, and a cool cape. 61. Claudia (left – female Claudius) and Hamlet, who's planning to kill her... 62. Sad Laertes portrait 63. The Tempest 64. Miranda and Prospero 65. Sycorax (a witch—I see her as an alien) 66. Ariel (a spirit) 67. Antonio (left) manipulating Sebastian (right) 68. Trinculo (left) and Stephano (right) trying on fancy clothes 69. Other plays 70. Antonio from Twelfth Night 71. Malvolio from Twelfth Night 72. Based on Sonnet 15... http://shakespeare.mit.edu/Poetry/sonnet.XV.html 73. Digital! 74. The three main Antonios! (left to right: Merchant of Venice, Twelfth Night, Tempest) "...And then Bassanio went and married Portia..." - "Oh no... My Sebastian also married a woman he didn't love..." - "Who wants to sulk about their boyfriend when you can manipulate him?!" 75. Portia (right) defends Antonio (left) from Shylock in a court (Merchant of Venice) Wow! If you read through all of that, I'm really impressed. Comment your favorite Shakespeare play if you actually got to the end here!
