Click that flag! :D (Sorry for the size and quality!) We were having a yard sale recently and I found my sister's old DSi. I ended up looking through every old (and either somehow very intelligent or very ... strange) flipnote I had ever done (these would've been made when I was about nine). Along came a wonderful thought - what if I could use this for Scratch? I had much more knowledge of animation than I did in third/fourth grade. Heck, my first 'animations' (emphasis on the quotes) were just slides with me narrating or singing. There was seriously a whole flipnote devoted to this guy who was eaten by a shark. I will never know why. So my mother gave me an old SD card and I booted up a flipnote I did the day I found the DSi again to my computer. It's actually not half bad. All I've done so far are some blink tests like this, but I'm working up to a walk cycle. :D I might switch to this type of animation! Here's a quick list of pros and cons of anyone who may be considering this themselves: Pros: -Art tools are easy and simple -Flipnote is VERY user-friendly -I believe there's a community of animators who make them online?? The DSi community is closed, though, due to the DSi being outdated and old. (Not to me! xD) -Can manage sound - and I think there's a way to import music and such, but I'm still not sure about this - this would make it much easier for me to upload music to Scratch, by having it already in the animation -Coding must be done in Scratch, which allows me to practice my coding -Art is done in Flipnote and Flipnote alone, so I don't have to go back and forth from complicated art and complicated coding, avoiding headaches Cons: -Takes a while to download to your computer -Not much variety when it comes to art tools -Sometimes mildly aggravating, but not as much as it was when I was younger -THREE COLORS?! WHY DID THEY ONLY PUT THREE COLORS IN THE WHOLE PROGRAM?? I'M JUST SAYING! HOW DARE THEY!! -Coding must be done in Scratch, as Flipnotes save as .gifs - depending on the project, it can take a while or not at all
This is Melody! :D She belongs to me, along with the coding. All art was done in Flipnote with my sister's DSi! (My own DS broke a while back, and it does not support Flipnote. *sobs*)
