Rurouni Kenshin: A Child Lost In Time. (A Crossover Of Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story And Rurouni Kenshin: Trust And Betrayal ) By: Legendstar14. In the year of 1878 in the Meiji era of Tokyo Japan a wandering samurai and former assassin Kenshin Himura, called Hitokiri Battousai the legendary manslayer during the Bakumatsu revolution which ended eleven years prior, has been living at the Kamiya dojo for about a year. Kenshin tries to find a more peaceful life and atone for his sins he had committed during the Bakumatsu. Now, in the middle of the summer of 1882 a constant downpour of sudden rain has seemingly casted an illness on a surplus of villagers in the area where Kenshin is staying. What’s even more troubling is twenty minutes after the downpour started, Kenshin returns to the dojo to find a young girl unconscious without a drop of rainwater on her as well as covered in bruises and debris. The young orphan wields a strange weapon and has little to no memory upon her awakening. With the sudden consistency of a massive storm, a mysterious child with blood-red hair and the same eyes as his as well as figments of his darker bloodstained past, Kenshin has no choice but to help this girl while keeping his friends out of danger and hiding a foreshadowing secret from them all. Chapter 1: Arrival. It was strange, having a downpour of chilling rain in the middle of the summer. At any rate, it was about noontime when Kenshin Himura walked swiftly into the Kamiya dojo, carrying daily groceries. It was pouring rain outside and he was soaked. Kaoru Kamiya and Sanosuke Sagara were out helping Megumi Takani with her work as there was a growing surplus of citizens falling ill. Yahiko Myojin had stayed at the dojo, practicing by himself. “Hey Kenshin.” he said when Kenshin walked in. “Evening Yahiko. Seems you came inside today, didn’t you.” Kenshin replied, still carrying his heavy load. “It’s because of the rain” the boy sighed in annoyance while resuming his practice. “But that ain’t gonna keep me from practicing!” he added determinedly. Kenshin laughed in a grin. “That’s the spirit Yahiko! Keep up the good work.” he said and went to put the groceries away. “You should change into something dry Yahiko! It looks like the rain out there started quite suddenly.” Kenshin advised. “Same to you. The water dripping off your clothes is making puddles! You’re way more soaked then i am!” the boy laughed, only for Kenshin to laugh in agreement. ______________________________________________________ When Kenshin went to his room to get fresh clothes for a bath, he opened the sliding door to find something very misplaced in his room and nearly tripped over it. He strained to not touch the object lying in front of the entrance and caught himself by the tips of his fingers before bringing his legs up in a back flip, managing to clear a reasonable distance between him and the object across the room. When he landed, facing the object, he instantly assumed the position of the Hiten Mitsurugi stance. He was stunned to see a body, lying on it’s side. It wore a tattered blue-grey kimono with small black seed prints. It was small and Kenshin couldn’t tell the gender. Recovering from some of the shock, Kenshin noticed the body was dirty, covered in bruises and debris. A small thick mass of long dark red hair covered its eyes. Kenshin cautiously approached the body, he could tell it didn’t respond to his presence as he carefully knelt down, and with one hand on his reverse blade sword, carefully flipped the small body onto its back and moved its hair from its eyes. It was a girl, Kenshin figured, at about Yahiko’s age. What took kenshin by surprise was the fact that she wore a men’s style kimono. Just at her collarbone the kimono had a dark brown, thick string. Pulled to leave only a small space uncovered. She wore a cool-grey shirt underneath. What shocked Kenshin most of all was that the downpour of rain started nearly twenty minutes ago. Not one single drop of rain water was on this girl. Suddenly she began to move and Kenshin’s eyes went wide with shock. The girls face twisted in a clear image of pain and she whimpered as she began tensing in small movements. She’s alive! he thought and carefully stood and poked his head out of the doorway. “Yahiko” he called. “Would you please fetch Ms. Kaoru, Sanosuke and Ms. Megumi for me, it’s an emergency!”. “Out there in the pouring rain?! What’s up Kenshin?!” Yahiko called from down the hall. “Just please hurry!” Kenshin said. “I’ll explain later.” he finished, hoping Yahiko would hear the urgency in his voice and do as he said. “Right, I’m on it.” the boy said to Himura’s relief. The urgency in Kenshin’s voice wasn’t caused by the girls state of health. He was sure she’d be fine with Ms. Megumi’s care. What had caused the seriousness in his tone, which allowed him to command Yahiko so easily, was not the fact that this girl had appeared in his room all of a sudden
but the fact that the moment she began to move, something from so long ago in Kenshin’s distant past, his second scar, began pounding. ______________________________________________________ “So, let me get this straight here Kenshin. You just found this kid lying in front of the entrance inside your room covered in dirt without a single drop of water on her?” Sanosuke said. “It’s true, that it is.” Kenshin said simply. “Hmm. Do you know her Kenshin? She looks a lot like you. Could she be a relative of yours?” Kaoru questioned. Ms.Megumi was examining the girl on Kenshin’s futon. He, Kaoru and Sanosuke watched closer while Yahiko stood at the door. “Well she couldn’t be, Ms. Kaoru...my parents had passed when I was seven. This girl would have to be at least twenty one years of age for even a slight chance of a possibility for her to be a sister and I don’t see any other way she could be related to me.” Kenshin spoke solemnly and in deep thought. My old scar...why is it throbbing? He tried hard to not show the pain he felt on the features of his face as he looked at the girl still sleeping. “Hey, Yahiko. Da you know this kid?” Sanosuke asked, turning slightly to look at him. “No.” Yahiko answered. “I don’t remember ever seeing her.” he said innocently. “That’s odd. How’d she get here? Will she be alright Ms. Megumi?” Kaoru asked. “She has a bit of a fever and i can’t fathom where this debris came from. But other then that, she should be fine.” Megumi reported, standing up. The girl began moving again and instantly Megumi crouched down again, feeling the girls forehead. The girl squirmed and opened her eyes. A deep violet. She screamed and backed up. Megumi froze before grabbing her shoulder lightly. “Hey, hey it’s going to be okay, shhh.” she tried to calm the girl, only for the girl to freeze and close her eyes tightly. “We’re not going to hurt you. You don’t have to be afraid” Kaoru chided. The girl opened one eyes slightly. “Wh-Where am i?...W-What year is it?”. Her question left everyone stunned. “Miss. It’s the year 1879(two years after the beginning of Rurouni Kenshin starts) in the Meiji era of Japan. What’s your name? we can help you.” Kenshin said. “M-My name… ...it’s ...Yuushin.” the girl said. “Well...Yuushin. Can you tell us your last name?” Megumi asked. "Why do you want to know?” Yuushin asked, backing up again. “Well do you have parents? Do you know how you got here?”. Yuushin shook her head. “I don’t remember...I know my name and that I'm supposed to find something but...I don’t know what it is though. Who are you people?” Yuushin asked, shrinking back. “This is Ms.Megumi Takani, Ms. Kaoru Kamiya, Sanosuke Sagara and Yahiko Myojin. My name is Kenshin Himura.” Kenshin introduced. “I found you over there just about twenty minutes ago.” he finished, pointing to the spot in front of the entrance to the room. “Himura?” Yuushin repeated. “Will you allow us to help you find your home? I’m sure we can if we know your last name, that i am.” he smiled, approaching her. She stood and backed up. “Your last name is...Himura?” she said, her eyes wide. “Look, kid! He already said he wouldn’t hurt you so why do you gotta-!” Yahiko stopped as Yuushin pulled a dagger out of her sleeve and pointed it at him. “Whoa! Hey, hey, hey, would you calm down!” Yahiko said as he pulled out his wooden sword. Kenshin stepped in front of him slightly. “Hold on Yahiko.” he said, then turned his gaze, now very serious, on Yuushin’s weapon. There was no doubt of the seriousness of his gaze as he studied it thoroughly. The handle is to long to be that or an ordinary dagger, yet the blade is to short to be that of a sword or a stiletto. Her choice of weapon, whether it be her choice at all or not, is no doubt out of the ordinary. “Yuushin. Please lower your blade. We won’t pressure you about your name anymore if you-”. Kenshin stopped when Yuushin thrust her blade in a diagonal motion. This was a motion Kenshin knew experienced swordsmen and assassins often performed when flinging blood off the blade before cleaning it or sheathing their weapons. I knew it! He thought as Yuushin’s blade extended to the length of a full katana sword before she gripped the handle with both hands and pointing it at him. Her eyes were wide with fear and panic. Kenshin, with his years of experience, was much more calm as he unsheathed his sakabato(reverse blade sword). “Kenshin wait!” Kaoru’s plea was to late as Kenshin brought his blade down sideways on Yuushin’s and slammed it to the ground. Everyone stopped and stared in stunned silence. Kenshin’s right foot was on the bottom of Yuushin’s blade to hold it down and his left hand was on her own. Yuushin had let go of the handle with one hand now on the floor for balance as she stared at Kenshin. Their gazes locked on one another. They stared at each other for a long
