Everything seemed normal with Yahiko and Kauro's usual bickering, but something seemed to be off with Yahiko as he gets persistent and begs Kenshin yet again to teach him the Hiten Mitsurugi style. His anger grows to the point where get turns violent and quick to attack. Chapter 1: Yahiko’s Sudden Ambition. The Danger And Illness Of Persistence. It was a sunny evening at the dojo where Yahiko had just finished a practice spar with Kaoru. Sanosuke and kenshin watched them both inventively from the side of the room. At the end of the day Kaoru and her student were both panting, but Yahiko still had an immense amount of energy left in him. “Alright. I think that’s enough for today Yahiko.” Kaoru said. “Nice work you two. Impressive.” Sanosuke commented. “It’s true you two are getting stronger everyday, that it is.” Kenshin smiled. “I want to go again.” Yahiko said. Even though he was drenched in sweat he looked ready to spar for hours longer than they already had. A look of concern played on Sanosuke’s face while Kenshin was better at hiding this. Kaoru sighed in annoyance at her student. Lately Yahiko had been pushing more and more to train and for far longer than usual. Lately he had become aggressive about it, begging constantly and not holding back his anger when Kaoru refused. “Yahiko. We have been practicing all day and we still have other things to do around here. Give me a break.” Kaoru said panting and wiping droplets off of her forehead. “So? Just one round ain’t gonna hurt anything!” the boy retorted angrily. At this Sanosuke and Kenshin looked at each other in silence. “What’s your problem? Like I said we still have loads to do today and you have had enough practice for one day Yahiko.” Kaoru said sternly. “I can handle more though. Please Kaoru, just one more time!” Yahiko insisted. “No” Kaoru said and turned to leave. “Kenshin!” Yahiko pleaded, hoping the older, more experienced samurai would train with him. “Yahiko.” Kaoru said, now in a much lighter tone. Yahiko got his hopes up to soon when she turned. “Maybe you should rest a bit.”. Kaoru’s sternness had faded into a gentle concern. “If you keep training constantly with no rest you could get sick. So if you want to keep on practicing with me then you need to go get some rest, Little Yahiko.”. He snapped. Little...little, little, little. It’s always little and nothing else!. He couldn’t contain his anger any longer. All this time they’ve been looking down on him, calling him little, he hated it. “I thought I told you to stop calling me LITTLE!!” he roared and lunged forward. Sanosuke and Kenshin’s eyes narrowed but they didn’t move until Yahiko threw down his wooden sword and grabbed something he had hidden in his kimono. Yahiko was stunned as a hand shot in front of him and his hand-made pointed-edge wooden sword shot through. Kaoru had turned and Kenshin was in front of her in a protective counter stance. Sanosuke was the one who yelled out in pain. He was standing to Yahiko’s side with his hand forward, facing him. Yahiko stopped. Kaoru and Kenshin’s expressions bore into him. Kaoru, shocked and hurt. Kenshin, full of disappointment. Yahiko couldn’t bear to look at Sanosuke who grunted, trying to suppress his pain. Kenshin carefully grabbed the sword. It had shot about two inches through and past Sanosuke’s palm. Yahiko still held the sword but didn’t feel kenshin pull it back. As Sanosuke gritted his teeth and grabbed the sword down more, helping to pull, Kenshin grabbed his arm and applied pressure under the weight of his own against his side. Yahiko was stunned through all of this and didn’t realize what was happening until the sword was pulled fully out of Sasuke's palm, leaving a huge hole in the center of it. Sanosuke’s blood splattered on Yahiko’s clothes. Yahiko was in a state of a trance until abruptly interrupted by Kenshin who, the moment the sword was out of Sanosuke’s palm, jolted the handle end of the sword forward to Yahiko's chest. Kenshin then lunged forward, shoving the boy to the wall and pinning him there by his shoulders. The look in his eyes was stern as his eyes were narrowed and creased in a look of disappointment and slight anger as he locked his gaze with the boy. Yahiko’s eyes were wide with shock, teeth clenched tightly and eyebrows creased down, still in fury as he tried to break his locked gaze with Kenshin, and scowl at Kaoru. Kenshin held his gaze mercilessly, only filling Yahiko with more unkempt rage. (This is all I have written so far. I made this for TombRose24. I will try to continue with it, but I am working a bit more on Rurouni Kenshin: A Child Lost In Time. so :/. I will try though.)
