The trees creaking in the night, foretelling of the horrors that stirred Rosepaw from her sleep. Her deep, russet fur often brushed against the wall of the cold, damp den as she used all her strength to keep her whiskers from near touching her sister's pelt. The fresh patter of light, gentle paws outside the entrance alerted the small, tired apprentice. "W-who is there..?" she called wearily through the hazy darkness. A golden pelt dusted with stars met with hers, warming her to the bone, despite the lack of difference in temperate. "Rosepaw, you are uneasy. I must take you to see Mysterystar, or else Fernleaf will have a tired apprentice tomorrow morning," he purred. Rosepaw nodded and sighed. "It's just.... Ashpaw...." she began. Goldenstar smiled, and rested his head upon hers. "I understand. Sleep in Mysterystar's den tonight. He will understand once he sees me with you." Rosepaw smiled and bowed curtly. She followed her grandfather to her leader's den, where his sleeping figure would await them. Sleep finally welcomed Rosepaw peacefully. Though, the path of her spiraling imagination dragged at her paws. Within her mind, a black cat with intense eyes and drooling jaws decorated with fangs followed her, bellowing to her the fears locked within her heart and repeating the dreadful hiss that Ashpaw had not hesitated to grimace. The young she-cat slurred in her sleep of dark creatures that haunted the night and cats that held foxes inside their hearts, minds, and bodies. Though, she gained many lost hours of sleep, and she was able to wake energetically. Though, there was one difference that many could notice; Rosepaw started to be more ruthless and reckless, as if life was no longer important to her. Darkpaw pursued her after training, concern drowning out the regret he had for leaving behind Ashpaw. "You've been acting strange lately, Rosepaw. Is anything wrong?" he confronted. Rosepaw turned away, but pressing her pelt closer to him. "I really like you Darkpaw. I have for a while. But recently, I've been having nightmares about life and dreams of death. I now wonder why life is so important to me? Or why is was before now, at least." Her words worried and confused Darkpaw, so, that's when Twigpool got involved.
