This is Part 14 for the MAP, "To All the Little Girls", hosted by @dolphingirl36. - - - - - - A woman I find truly inspiring is Elizabeth Warren, a US Senator for the great state of Massachusetts. This project was inspired by something said about her actions in a recent debate. Here is that story: During the middle of her speech, Warren was interrupted (something that is extraordinarily rare in that kind of setting) and was told that she had breached Senate rules by reading past statements from figures such as the late Coretta Scott King. After the events occurred, people were quite stunned by this move. But it was the words of the Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, that this project is truly inspired by. In response to interrupting her speech, he said, “Sen. Warren was giving a lengthy speech... She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted.” These words quickly sparked a fire in many who were reminded of sexist sentiments (in this case, that women should sit down and stop talking) and the phrase "Nevertheless, she persisted" became a sort of battle cry. I find this idea, this battle cry, this notion of persistence incredibly inspiring. And so I thought it perfect for this project <3
