He became home schooled partially due to the fact that the other kids asked too many loaded questions. and partially because his mother worried about her own reputation as a mother. Marcus began to wonder if maybe Derek wasn't just a figment of his imagination. Perhaps he had more power than that? Or perhaps Marcus was just overthinking things again. One morning, after his mother had gone off to work, he sat alone in his room looking at his handful of medicene. He wondered if he could encounter Derek again if he simply didn't take it. He rolled the little pills back and forth in his palms. As long as he kept them close, Derek couldn't hurt him. If he tried, Marcus would simply pop in the pills and close his eyes. Er, eye, that is. He took a deep breath, and relaxed onto the bed, facing the ceiling.
