Starting on day 2, you train with the general either at your den or at the stronghold. Eventually, you will become a soldier. Don't forget to explore around every day, things DO change. If you are on Blister or Blaze's side, don't go near burns stronghold (the building to the left of the den entry). If you do, you will be caught and put into prison.
