Rata is a 16-year-old girl who lives in a civilization buried deep under the earth. There, people are kept in oppression under ranks of citizenship. The ranks are named after colors, but they have nothing to do with magic or anything like that. Rata is the oldest child of a poor family of Reds. Her father is unknown. She works as a servant for a wealthy family of Yellows, the highest rank. Together, she and the family's heir, 19-year-old Jatof, work on a plan to escape their city and find the world above that to them has been the stuff of legends. They are pursued by Jatof's father and other influential citizens, but eventually make it to the world above. There they have to do their best to fit in, while also finding a way to get as many people out of their city as possible. (This story is a draft)
