The rusty crayfish is an invasive species that destroys habitats for native Massachusetts species. They eat a lot of aquatic plants, fish and snails. They were brought in from the great lakes as bait. We need to educate fisherman to stop using them as bait, remove them from Massachusetts waterways, and reintroduce native bass and sunfish into lakes where the crayfish has invaded.
