Anyways, as the title of this project suggests, this is a DTA entry for two characters! I know I can only win one, so in that case, I would prefer if I won the skull one, as it is the one I put a full bio for. If I could win both, I would've totally put a full bio/art for the pastel one :C SKULL Name: Karuko Gender: Genderless Species: Unspecified--some type of "alien" creature that doesn't exist IRL Personality: Pretty much a blank slate at first. Due to their past, they lack confidence but don't show much emotion. They tend to stay quiet and not open their mouth much, but when they do talk, it sounds broken and slurred. Sometimes, others can not understand them, and it will make them angry. When they're angry, their tail will poof up and black goop will fall from their mouth. It's a surprise they're not dead yet, as it seems to be that they were horribly diseased. Speaking of which.... Backstory: Back when Karuko lived in a tribe of their species, times were very primitive. A disease was spreading around the area they lived in, and the only way to keep it from spreading further was to kill whoever caught the disease. Unfortunately for Karuko, they caught the disease whilst searching for food. The main symptom of this disease was the formation of black goop in animals' saliva. Karuko noticed they possessed these symptoms two days after they went searching for food, and tried to stay away from their tribe and keep their mouth shut. Unfortunately, they all had a sort of check-up to see if anyone was diseased, and Karuko's results were positive. In a death ceremony, their tribe placed a skull onto Karuko's head, along with a flower crown, to see it rot when Karuko died. Each member of the tribe took a few flaming coals and threw them at Karuko, cracking their skull hat and burning their body. Karuko could do nothing but bear through the pain and accept their death. Once they fell, unconscious from the pain, everyone left, suspecting Karuko was dead. Out of a miracle, though, they were alive, though horribly injured. With yet another miracle, somehow, a "stalker" of theirs had been watching them the whole time, and happened to be a medic. The creature, wearing a skull on its head as well, unleashed a firefly from a jar strung around its neck, where the lit bug landed on Karuko's head. Suddenly, a rush of energy burst throughout their whole body, and within a flash, the creature was gone and Karuko was left alone, somewhat recovered. They still had the black saliva and a crushed side of their skull, but overall, they were decently okay. eh i'm too lazy to try writing other stuff/improve the bio, sorry lol Other stuff: Their "stalker" is actually one of my old OCs I got from a year ago, Backporch Backporch has a bunch of fireflies in a little jar he carries around and I decided that they would help heal others--Karuko, in this case. I put Backporch's original ref in the project in case you wanted to see, lol. Karuko wears the skull on their head still because it covers up their diseased black saliva (unless it literally comes pouring out of their mouth). The teeth on the skull can also be used to help kill and pick apart prey. They tend not to hang around society, and society does the same. If it weren't for Backporch, they'd be dead, so they still have the disease but are now immune to its affects--though anyone who comes in close contact with them will most likely catch the highly contagious disease and wind up dying. "カルコ/Karuko" isn't supposed to have any meaning--I just came up with the name on the spot and it happened to sound Japanese. Maybe it's thanks to all of those Japanese lessons I've taken....
