The people living there took her in, and accepted her as one of their own. She was raised in the village, and it has been her home ever since. One day, when the young Kailua was walking along the cliffs, a rock fell and severed her tail. The village doctor knew it was too far gone to fix, so Kailua lost some of her tail that day.
