Accelerate: Up arrow. Decelerate: Down arrow. Turn left: Left arrow. Turn right: Right arrow. Reverse: Click on shift indicator while at low speed (~10mph or less) Parking brake on/off: Click on 'Parking Brake' button Anything else: See 'Notes and Credits'
After a bit of wrestling with Scratch 2.0, I've taken the driving sim that hasn't seen an upgrade for nearly 7 years and given it a bit of a face lift. This is a better version of the original Driving Simulator - I give all credit to 04lukeb who made the original. This version features: An automatic gearbox with shift indicator (5 gears, reverse available by clicking on the shift indicator.) An odometer that you can reset (just click on the 'Odometer Reset' sprite to reset the odometer A parking brake How to use the parking brake: To turn it on, click on it. To turn it off, click on it again. The parking brake is now fixed and gradually slows the car, as in the real world. (Cannot accelerate while parking brake is on.) Before/after use of parking brake, you will need to disable Cruise Control by clicking on the button 'Cruise Control' if it isn't already coloured green. There's even a fuel gauge that you can see. When it runs out, it will decelerate and stop the car. I've changed the operation of the radio a bit by eliminating the wait x seconds code snippet and adding extra code to stop the radio making music when it is turned off. Without this code the radio would repeat music once when it is turned off. Also added to radio: police scanner (just a random police radio sound effect). NB: Radio may not receive stations - will display 'NO STATIONS' if it does this. Just click the Search button again. TV! After I owned (then sold) a reversing camera unit (an old CRT + camera) I was inspired to put a TV in this sim. However, my experiments with importing GIFs into Scratch have driven the file size of projects beyond the 10MB limit, so for now the TV just displays static. This may be fixed in a future release. To use it: Click on the 'TV PWR' button to turn it on/off. TV will only tune when it's on. Once TV is on (green light below screen) click on the TV to tune it. There is a top-up button you can click - it will ask you how much gas you want to add to the tank. Also flashes 'Gas alert' when the gas level gets below 10 (credit to soa). Now flashes 'Gas empty, please refill' when you run out. You are welcome to remix this (and if there are any bugs (as there probably will be, my coding skills ain't what they used to be - feel free to fix) As far as my future on Scratch goes: it's high time I moved on to other interests but might as well share this project before I do so.
