My O.C. passionfruit. She was abandoned in an alleyway at age one, in a shoebox with bright lime green hair. A schoolteacher, Ms. Lauren Smith took her in and named her PassionFruit Smith, after her hair and her other favorite color, deep maroon. Mrs Smith raised her to be one of the most respected chefs in San Francisco, opening a shop called Passionfruit.
