I'm going to write this in the notes since it is a huge amount of writing. I'll probably do something like this about the Big Cat Trade and Spay/Neuter Myths, but with an actual project. This subject had me at a loss for what images I could use that wouldn't scare the mind. As an animal lover I'm sometimes asked if I am a PETA supporter. Honestly, I'm offended when people do such things. The first reason why PETA is horrible is that they give animal lovers a bad rep. Not all of us want to make fun of your parents, not all of us are vegan 'freaks', not all of us think the Pokèmon games are 'evil' and 'promoting animal abuse'. They also support animal cruelty, in a way, and some of there facts are completely messed up. Let's elaborate on the first reason. A lot of people are animal lovers. However, most aren't apart of PETA. In fact, no true animal lover is apart of PETA. "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals" really doesn't help animals much. They have actually said that they KILL MORE animals than they SAVE. Most shelters, even ones with tight space and budgets, reach No Kill Shelter Status. PETA accepts donations, earns ad revenue, sells merchandise, and what does this go to? The large shelter they own that received 1,843 intact cats and dogs in 2012? No. It goes to making cheap games that infringe copyright and target games that have nothing to do with the problem. I don't know about other animal lovers but I don't support kill-shelters. That is way I hate people who do not spay and neuter their pets. I know your little pet is an angel who would produce an outstanding litter, but the truth is that it can go HORRIBLY (so horribly Scratch could ban me if I even link to a list of horrible outcomes) wrong and even if the labor and pregnancy work out and mom doesn't kill her puppies or kittens, you brought MORE animals into a world already FULL OF THEM. Those seven kittens your darling Snowflake had that seem like perfect angels with a flaw, those kittens that you can't keep, they are seven more animals who need homes. If we want every animal to get a home you need to stop breeding your house pets. Leave it to people who KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. Even if you find homes for all seven kittens, those were seven homes that could have been filled with animals from the number of 70,000 born a day. Most of those are killed because they have no home and you could be the reason why, simply because you thought your pet would make perfect kittens or puppies. Now, you think I haven't given enough reasons on why the shelter is so messed up, well this section is going to be all about. Let's look at the facts. PETA's shelter has received 33,658 adoptable, intact dogs and cats since 1998. 704 were transferred, meaning they were given to another shelter. Who knows what happened to them. Let's think about the fact other animal shelters often adopt out at least HALF of what they brought in. Since 1998 PETA has adopted out 3,178 animals. They adopted out less than 10%. 29,398 adoptable animals were killed. Most of their shelter is dedicated to euthanizing animals. They say that it is because the animals need to be put out of their misery, that people don't deserve them, that the animals don't deserve to be pets, and many other things depending on who you talk to. That is a horrific thing to learn that 92% of a shelter's animals were euthanized. Now let's look at the lies they say about being vegan, about the insults they throw at people, and let's learn why those things just aren't true. I want to say I have nothing against vegans. I have everything against some of the lies people say to get people to go vegan. Humans are omnivores. We function best eating both animals and plants. Some things we get ONLY from plants and others ONLY from animals. B12 is incredibly important for life and isn't found in any plants. In a study it was found 92% of vegans lack this nutrient. There are no studies that have proven vegan diets are healthier. Another thing is that PETA uses scare tactics. They actually did make an advertisement that called wives and mothers fat to try and get them to go vegan. I'm not joking, go look that stuff up. Honestly, PETA may continue to lie but I just want to say I'll hate em no matter how they change or do. There is no excuses for the stuff they have done so far. Adopting out less than 1% of your animals? Trying to scare people into something that could actually risk their health? And no I call for action. Do NOT support PETA. Support other groups that promote Spay and Neuter, groups that respectfully make points using facts. Support and promote sanctuaries, avoid places like Sea World, and just buy meat that you know was killed humanely and had a good life. You don't need to turn into a mindless zombie, go vegan, and hate video games and TV. Now after this long, 9 paragraph essay on why as an animal lover I hate PETA, I'll finish this outro and leave you. This thing is too long as it is.
