ASSIGNMENT #1: In. Out. In. Out. I concentrated on the dance, us molecules never really get tired for some reason. In. Out. In. Out. My partner and I got close in then separated, the same old pattern I had done since what felt like forever. We were going at a slow pace, as was the others around me. Oh, I’m sorry, I’m a water molecule, currently I’m in a solid, ice, to be exact. In. Out. In. Out. That was what I was doing, burr, it sure is cold, that’s why we are so close together, we sought out warmth from each other. I noticed it started to become hotter, and hotter, I unconsciously moved faster and faster, quicker and quicker. Pop. What was that noise? Pop. Pop. Pop. I looked around me, some molecules were bumping into others. Pop. Our bond broke, I walked around, curious of the world around me when I was stuck in one specific place, doing that boring dance. The molecules became more of a blur now, whoosh, oof. A faster molecule bumped into me, causing me to go faster and faster. Oof. I bounced of something, I didn’t notice the aching, all I paid attention to was the beautiful image outside our prison itched in my head. I felt like we were being poured, I looked ahead and saw others falling into another container, I followed. Everybody there was rushing and rushing. A scream pierced the air, I looked up as I saw a molecule fly out of the water, disappearing into the air. I stared in horror, was that going to be me too? More and more flew into the air, until it was my turn. I closed my eyes tight, scared of the fate that has befallen on me, but nothing happened, just the rush of air I was used to feel, just more powerful. I opened my eyes, just to see the beauty of the place, I felt myself getting pushed outside, and then up. I looked down, just to be amazed, once again by the beauty of the world around me, the one that I never knew about until I was a liquid, stuck in that dance that I couldn’t seem to stop. From that day on, I was no longer a mere solid molecule, doing that horrible dance, not a liquid, trapped in that container, but a gas, roaming the world and taking in the true beauty of it.
