Click the green flag to start. Mouse over each part of the cell to find out what it is, and what it's role in mitosis is. If you mouse over something, and nothing happens, you may need to go to the next stage for it to work. In order to see the DNA description, you'll have to be in metaphase. In order to see the cell description, you need to mouse over it near the bottom.
Mitosis is the part of the cell cycle when the nucleus splits apart. In order for a cell to go through mitosis, it must first complete interphase (G1, S & G2 phases). After mitosis, the cell can finish reproducing by splitting the cytoplasm apart through cytokinesis. During cytokinesis, the cell membrane pinches near the middle to form a cleavage furrow. This continues to grow toward the center of the cell until it has completely split the cell in half. At this point, the cell cycle is complete and two daughter cells are independent of each other.
