Remake/new cattery game here: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/778603103/ ==GUIDE== =GENETICS= Genetics don't work the way they do in real cats for the sake of laziness. Order is much more important in these cats than in real-life cats. Kittens can express any of the alleles their parents carry rather than a recessive-dominant system. It just depends on which allele ends up in the first slot. - The first two slots of the genes are the fur color. The first is the actual color of the cat, and the second is a color it carries. - The second slot is the pattern. In this game, cats only have one pattern slot. - The third slot is the eye color slot. Again, there is only one slot. - The fourth and fifth slots are the health slots. This is the only gene where a system similar to a dominant-recessive one can be found. If a cat has a single Ha (healthy) gene in either slot or doesn't have two of certain unhealthy genes, the game treats them as a healthy cat. When breeding, all possible alleles for a slot are put into a list and selected randomly. This means that there is a very slim chance that if one parent carries orange, their kitten could be oo (double orange). However, this also means that a HaLu (Leukemia carrier) parent and a LuDb (Leukemia carrying diabetes) parent could produce a HaHa (healthy carrying healthy) kitten. This makes things much more interesting, even if it's less realistic/predictable. You never know what you may get. New as of v3: Combos! When breeding, if both parents have particular traits, the kitten has a chance of receiving a combo. For example, an orange and a black cat have the chance to produce a tortie. Some combos will separate into their components when bred (ex: a tortie will give O, B, and the color allele they carry). This (again) isn't exactly how real cat genetics work, but it's fun! =GAINING ADOPTIONS= Adoptions are gained through winning competitions. Cat of the Day: - The cat you enter is compared to the set of the day's preferred genes. - The more similar to the preferred set of genes, the more points your cat will receive. Shows: - Shows run similarly to Cat of the Day in that there is a set of preferred genes your cat is compared against, but they are also against a randomly generated opponent. - The cat with the highest score wins. - The more shows your cat wins, the more likely they are to receive a higher score in shows. Agility: - Similar to shows, the player goes against a randomly generated opponent. - Personality is one of the factors included in determining a win here, unlike in shows. =ACTIONS= Actions are used when: - cleaning cats - breeding cats - gene testing - competing - curing illnesses They are not used when: - adopting cats - rehoming cats =ILLNESSES= Illnesses are gained through random chance upon the advancement of a turn. However, a cat's health genes (the last two genes in their gene list) determine how often they can get sick and what illnesses they can catch. Be on the lookout for contagious illnesses! If a cat has one of them at the advancement of a turn, they have a chance of passing it on to cats with ID numbers within one of theirs (so, for example, cat 5 could pass an illness onto cats 4 and 6), and those cats can also pass it on. Contagious illnesses are: - Fleas - Mites - Cold - Flu =CLEANLINESS= There's a button on each cat's page that either says "dirty" or "clean." This is the cleanliness level of that cat. It is not required to keep cats clean, but it brings benefits: - Increased competition score - Increased wellness (unkempt cats have a chance of contracting an illness if bred) =OVERVIEW VS FULL VIEW= The full view shows all data available on a cat, and can only show one cat at a time. The overview shows a list of your cats with their genes and their statuses so you can more easily see who is needs gene testing, or is unfed or ill.
==CREDITS== - Text engine by @123768631 - Remake of https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/119126955/ (but without the cloud features) ==TO DO== These are being considered, but may not actually be implemented. Feel free to suggest features. >> redo Po, To and Bu art (or at least make them display differently; the current To and Bu art especially aren't great) >> more markings/furs/etc >> mutations! >> more cool genes? (maybe some recessive ones?) >>>>separate colorpoint, tabby, and white spotting? >> stats? (there isn't a lot of space for them in the display, so either it would need to be reformatted, or a special clickthrough/tab would need to be added) >> fancy show display similar to breeding and cat of the day? (would need to show entry, competitor, and possibly goal cat) >> alter adoption counter/display to avoid the n.n9 repeating glitch >> life stages (and late color change genes like amber?) ==IF YOU WANT TO REMIX== I'd suggest keeping the version number in the title somewhere in case I update this. That way, you and other users can tell what features may be present in your remix. ==VERSION HISTORY== >> 7/14/22 - v4 - Added Agility competitions - Added Special Rehome option - Added "end of turn" screen with flavor text once there is a certain number of cats - Added cat personalities and personality groups (docile, neutral, and willful). Also added a chance for cats with conflicting personality groups to fight when bred - Added aging system; cats will now age and pass away over time to keep the player cycling >> 11/6/21 - v3 - Added new furs (OCh, OB, GCr, Cr) - Added new markings (To, Bu) - Added new eye colors (CoYe, CoG, CoB, OrCo, OrYe, OrG, Cy, Mi, LG, R, Ba, LY, DG, WB). The Ba eye color is based on black-eyed Topaz cats, though it doesn't have the same health risks that real black-eyed Topazes do! - Added combos when breeding (Combo furs: OCh, OB, GCr; combo eyes: Mi, LG, R, Ba; Combo marking: To) - Modified all heterochromia eyes including blue to be able to pass down the individual colors within them (ex: YB can pass down both yellow and blue) - Lengthened cleanliness cooldown >> 11/5/21 - v2 - Fixed placement of cat names on overview so that they are more evenly spaced. Now fits 10 cats per page. - Changed food system into cleanliness system and added a cooldown rather than requiring action every turn. >> 8/21/21 - v1 - Moved gene testing to cat profile instead of menu - New vector cat art - Complete reskin of game - Changed generated text to 'thin' to aid with display - Themes - Fancy breeding and Cat of the Day display - Changed real-time system into turn-based system with actions so players can move at their own pace - Added reset game button - Made fleas, mites, flu, and cold infectious - Added hidden stat called "thrall" - Added overview - Fixed miscalculation that allowed the player's adoptions to go into the negatives by letting them adopt cats when they had a number of adoptions between zero and one - Shared project >> Unknown date, c. 2019 - v0 - Basic cat colors (orange, black, gray, chocolate, cinnamon) - Basic cat patterns (mackerel, marbled, marbled 2, spotty, white 25, bicolor, sky/locket, and more) - Genetics - Breeding - Inheritable illnesses - Non-inheritable illnesses - Shows and Cat of the Day - Adopting and Rehoming cats - Cattery full view - Real-time progression
