This is for a school project. Dirk Gently and The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul is a novel by the late Douglas Adams, better known for the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. This a short adaptation of the first chapter of The Long Dark Tea-Time. All Kate wanted to do was fly to Norway to meet Jean-Philippe, her detached boyfriend. She didn't want to deal with missing ticket, a missing cat, the unexpected pregnancy of aforementioned cat, a leak in the roof, the sudden death of the neighbor that was supposed to take care of the cat, and the stupid pizza restaurants that some how fail to grasp the universal concept of home delivery. After all this trouble, she doesn't her final step - giving ticket to the lady at the check out - to go over easy. But she certainly did not except the ticket booth to explode through the ceiling engulfed in flames. The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul is the sequel to Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, and is the second and final book in the Dirk Gently series (not counting the unfinished Salmon of Doubt). This adaption follows the basic plot of the first chapter, though some parts have been cut or edited for time and simplicity. Though this project is appropriate for all age, the original book does contain swearing, violence, general strangeness, and other matters that may be unsuitable for young readers.
