“YOU’RE FIRED!” Officer Sponge shouted in Soap’s face, his own face turning a dark purple. “I cannot STAND your optimism. YOU ARE OBNOXIOUS!” Soap shrugged. “Hey, now at least I can go on vacation!” Sponge sighed. This was not a good day. “Just get out.” Soap skipped happily out the door of the police station. Useless nincompoop, Sponge thought angrily. ***** Juan was in jail. Well, it was Juvenile Hall, but basically jail. What had he been imprisoned for? He had forgotten. Probably something lame. Making annoying noises at the police, chatting with other prisoners, sleeping, and sitting there thinking were his favorites. Things were always boring. C’mon, let’s go, people!” She had unlocked the prison doors and everybody ran out into the streets, free. Like a wave. Juan had whooped with joy as he charged out. “I’M JUUUAAAN CEEENA!” he shrieked. The purple-haired girl gave him a strange look. “Uh, okay. Just follow me.” And Juan did, dabbing with triumph the whole way. When the girl in front of him finally stopped, they had arrived at a huge tree. She slipped behind it. Under a large root was an underground hollow. Lots of other kids- teenagers- were hanging around. Most were finishing sodas. One of them was leaning over a map scratched into the dirt tapping her foot irritably. Two were attempting, awkwardly, to share a soda. Juan gaped. Was this- could it be- the Juvenile Delinquents’ headquarters? It had to be. He was now in the presence of the Juvenile Delinquents.
