See if you can find a shortcut or a quick way to get the sum without a need for adding all of the numbers together. Can you find the sum from just the number you chose? Play this game several times. Focus on the sums you get. What do you notice? Can you write a rule for this, so that you can start with any number, apply the mathematical rule, and get the sum? When you figure this out, show this to a friend. Have them choose a start number. Turn your back and tell them the sum before they press the check mark by applying your rule to their start number.
