Name: HMS Royal Ace Acquired: May 2 1915, Commissioned: May 10 1915 Fate: Was Bought by Finland Cruises in October 12 1946 and was Named the Finland Ace. ---Bio--- The HMS Royal Ace was a seaplane tender which served in the Royal Navy (RN) during the First World War and Second. Converted from the Canada Pacific ship RMS Empress of America, she was initially fitted with temporary hangars for three seaplanes for aerial reconnaissance and bombing missions in the North Sea. She participated in the unsuccessful Cuxhaven Raid in late 1915 before she began a more thorough conversion in 1916 that increased her capacity to four aircraft. Royal Ace was transferred to the Battle Cruiser Fleet in late 1916 and participated in the Battle of Jutland in 1916. She was transferred to the Mediterranean in 1918. ---WWI--- Upon completion of the modifications on 1 September, Engadine was assigned to the Harwich Force along with Other seaplane tenders, On Christmas Day 1916,A Bomb Hits the Royal Ace, The Captain Docked the Royal Ace Into an Island, and The Ship Capsized, Also Known as the Costa Concordia Disaster of 1916,The Ship was Later Float Back up, And was Repaired with Some Design Changes. Among with These Changes was the Dazzle Camouflage. ---WWII--- The ship was assigned to Home Fleet when the Second World War began, and was mostly used to train sailors in catapult launching and shipboard recovery techniques. The ship used the Fairey Seafox, Supermarine Walrus, and Fairey Swordfish of the 764 Naval Air Squadron. She also served as an aircraft transport and was present in Scapa Flow, having just delivered some aircraft. Disaster Struck Once again in 1945 When The Royal Ace was Sabotage By Three Nazi Spies, All Crew Men were Killed, Including the Captain,The Spies Jobs Were Done and Jumped into a Life Boat And Paddled off, 2 Months Later, The Ship was Found Run Aground on an Island, it Stayed there Until 1946 When Finland Cruises Wanted to Buy the Remains and Use it after Some of its Ships were Lost.
