Evelyn was born with fur like a fox. Her sister, Thorn, believed she was good, but her mother believed the opposite. Her mother got mad and accused the Dark Forest of sending her a spy for a baby. Evelyn was thrown out, and she went to find shelter. But she was ridiculed by others, and when queens saw her coming, they nuzzled their kits into the den. She ran into the forest and was accused of a Dark Forest spy. The anger and sadness overwhelmed her and she became delirious. Evelyn started to run toward a gorge, but Thorn saw and stopped her. She snapped out of her state and went back to her mother, Drip, where she met her father, Reed. Her mother turned her back on her again and she ran away again, out of the forest and away from her sister and everything she could ever remember. Her family never saw her again, but sometimes Thorn saw her in dreams, where they could communicate better than they could in their home.
