yes/no answers, no capslock. This was a project I worked on for G.R.I.P. at my school. Here is some background info if you would like to know a little more about black holes. Black Holes (Background Info) Black holes are regions of space where matter has collapsed in on itself. Black holes do not have a surface. Stars have to have a mass greater than 20 times our sun to turn into a black hole. Black holes can be smaller than an atom and larger the solar system. Black holes form after a supernova. Black holes eventually evaporate. The effect black holes have on you is called spaghettification. Time slows down as you get closer to the event horizon. The event horizon (also called the point of no return) is the center of the black hole were nothing can escape. Humans may use black hole’s wormholes to travel through time. We can not see black holes but we know they are there because of the effect they have on their surroundings (dust, stars, and galaxies). There is a black hole in the center of our galaxy (and most galaxies). Scientists believe there is a black hole in the center of every galaxy. Black holes are the densest things in the universe. Objects that fall into black holes are stretched to breaking point. Light cannot escape- making black holes invisible. Black holes were predicted by Einstein’s theory of general relativity. Black holes are born from dying stars. The black hole in our galaxy is called Sagittarius A*. If the sun was replaced with a black hole then the orbit of all the planets would not be changed. Black holes actually emit light particles. This occurs because of Hawking Radiation. Black hole lifetime = 1.01e+55 years.
DISCLAMER: I know sound doesn't exist in space, it just sounded better with music. Vexento for all the music. Don't hold space on the Sgr A* part. This project: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/44210002/ for all the music. Thank you to my mentors, Mr. Malony from our high school, and Ms. Marinelli from the science museum!
