Inspired by @DebunkingMyths, I recorded myself. My accent isn't as cool but I tried. :) Sorry for the choppy transitions, the recording and thinking of what to say has been a learning curve here... Also, upon listening to it afterwards, I realize it's kind of hard to read the clips and listen to me talk so here's the transcript if you'd like: "Hi Scratch. Today I just wanted to voice some opinions on feminism. First, the very word feminism is a word that has been overused and is now wrongly synonymous with a misandrist. Feminism does not mean that someone is a man basher or man hater. Feminism simply put is the want for equality, and while yes, everyone wants equality feminists are actively working towards it. Feminism is still needed. I do think that white feminism has brought up some issues that are not right, and for that reason I’ve always been wary to call myself a feminist. I have started calling myself a feminist though, because I think our women and future generations in general strongly need equality and change. I, personally am a feminist of color, and some sort of mix between a 2nd and 3rd wave feminist. I’ll give you an example of white feminism so you can get an idea of what I mean; It is sometimes considered “white feminism” for a woman to have a job when she has a small infant. It’s not being strong and it is not being a feminist, it’s neglecting your child the adequate breastfeeding and care it needs. That is not feminism, but some messed up sort of internalized sexism, the strange notion women shouldn’t take care of their children. I understand that women and men have differences, but we have to use those differences to our advantage. In my culture, the man protects the woman physically so that she could do mental and spiritual work. The woman is considered to be the stronger sex spiritually speaking because of her connection to heaven via her womb and we feel it is important to protect her. So, I’m not asking for white feminism, I frankly disagree with much of white feminism. I strongly believe however that we should encourage feminism and speak up when we think there is injustice. That is one of the main reasons I like to debate is because I strongly feel that if you are silent in times of injustice you have chosen the side of the oppressor. So thank you for listening and I hope you got something out of this!"
I never realized how shy I sound... I'm never shy in my head lol Hit that love button if you're a feminist, liked the project, are a liberal, or a misandrist! JKJK THE LAST ONE xD You are loved and appreciated :)
