Whiteshred attacks and kills Lightningstar while her kit, Daisykit, watches in horror. Acornkit and Smokekit bravely try to distract Whiteshred, but the tom snatches up Smokekit and crunches down on his hind legs. Acornkit is rescued by Thunderfoot, the RainbowClan deputy. Hailstorm and a patrol drive off Whiteshred, and since they are closer to RainbowClan's camp, Smokekit is rushed off for his injuries to be treated by Bushytail and Silverstreak. Acrornkit and Daisykit are taken back to the StormClan camp by Hailstorm's patrol.
