When calculating the expected value of the switching, that is under the assumption that the other envelope could still be 40 and could still be 10. But this is not the case in reality, or to Gobo. Gobo knows what the other envelope is. Although Scratchy does not know it, the other envelope either is 10 or is 40. Once Scratchy draws the 20, the other envelope's money is certain. It's not like after Scratchy has the 20 the other could be something else. It is what it is, with no uncertainty to Gobo, and that's what matters because it is what is
