Move your mouse near the Boids to shake them about. Click - Add Boid Q - Clear Boids Z - Show flock parameters X - Toggle style C - Toggle cursor fleeing The parameters are: Speed (negative -- slow -- fast) Controls how fast the Boids move. Flock force (low -- high) Controls how much the Boids steer to be part of the flock Flock distance (far -- near) Controls how far the Boids like to spread Angle force (high -- low) Controls how quickly Boids conform to the direction of the flock
These Boids try to stay a given distance from nearby flockmates, and they also rotate to match the direction the flock is heading in. Using these principles, they form flocks that move around naturally. This simulation is similar to ones used to generate flocks of birds or fish in many games and movies.
