The Develop Design Create Competition (DDCC) is a judged competition that encourages the community of Scratch to design a functional and useful program on Scratch. Each year has a theme selected by the host of the competition. This year's theme is "Depth in Design." The project must contain either a 2.5D element or it must have isometric artwork within it. All apps must have a home screen with a functional play button, an about button (that shows who was in the group) and a working game/app. The app can be about anything you want it to be (in regards to the Scratch community guidelines) but it must contain this year's theme elements. Only 40 members will be accepted. There will be 10 (subject to change) groups in total with each group containing 4 members. The group will have 12 weeks to design a program that revolves around this year's theme. All group members must have a part in the competition. Members are selected at random. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ IMPORTANT DATES: 01 May 2018: Competition Release 10 May 2018: Applications due (remix this project) 12 May 2018: Groups are created 23 June 2018: 5 week check-in 04 Aug 2018: Programs are due and submitted as final 05 Aug 2018: Awards are announced. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ AWARDS: 1st Place - The Innovate Award: The group is the epitome of innovation. They all worked together to create an app that can inspire others on Scratch to build more creative projects. The theme is clearly represented in an original and innovative way. The code runs smoothly and flawlessly due to new design processes and ideas. They clearly out-preformed in all judged categories. • All group members get a follow from all of the award judges • The group leader hosts the DDCC19 (2019 competition). • All group members get a heart and a favorite from all of the award judges • All group members get commemorative artwork that displays their place in DDCC18 ______________________________________________________ 2nd Place: The Blend Award The team that wins this award may have not had the best app or the most functional design, but they were the best at blending together. They took their individual talents and tried to make the best of them. They may have not known each other at the beginning but they worked like a professional app development team. • All group members get a heart and a favorite from all of the award judges • All group members get commemorative artwork that displays their place in DDCC18 ______________________________________________________ 3rd Place: The Origin Award This team came up with a creative idea. Whether they made their own game/app idea up or if they blended existing ideas, they still managed to set their idea apart from the rest of the competition. • All group members get a heart from all of the award judges • All group members get commemorative artwork that displays their place in DDCC18 ______________________________________________________ 4th Place: The Design Award This team may have not the most functional app/program or the most innovative idea, but they sure did have the artwork to make their program stand out from the rest. This program managed to maintain a professional look while also providing key GUI/UI features to the program. After the 4th of August all projects would be submitted as final. Changes will result in disqualification. • Must work in designated groups (external communication is allowed [ie. Discord, TeamSpeak; just keep it cool) • Must follow this year's theme • Must be original • To enter the competition remix the project, publish the project, and share it in the comments section. They are due by 10 May 2018 • Your collaborative project must be shared. You can edit the projects through remixes. • No collaborative accounts can be used.
