Change the harmonic to change the frequency of the stationary wave (red) and change the frequency to change the frequency of the progressive wave (rainbow). The amplitude affects both waves. A stationary wave (or standing wave) is where none of the points move spatially, they only oscillate. Hence, nodes (points that do not oscillate at all) and anti nodes (points that oscillate with the maximum amplitude) form. A progressive wave actually propagates. All points have the same amplitude.
