Credit to @Jilly65 for the lineart (which is phenomenal, by the way)! Credit to @Jilly65 for the coloring contest! Credit to the Chainsmokers for "Sick Boy" To be honest, I just wanted to work some more with shading. It's less about the colors here for sure. I just gotta say, before you read the story behind the character that I just made up on the spot (thank you, by the way, for the inspiration, I might end up using this later in a short story), the shading for this? It took 3 hours. I promise I'm not trying to get pity points but... I'll be honest this is the first project I've put real work into for at least a good year. Now! Onto the story! :D ~ Brainwashed ~ *based on my interpretation of the lyrics of "Sick Boy" Day in, day out, the same insane stories on the news. Day in, day out, the people ignored it. Desensitized. Indifferent. Taught to believe that this was normal; that this was the way it always had been, and the only way it would ever be. They wouldn't realize until it was far too late that the country built on freedom had its cornerstone laid by chained hands. History washed away in waves of white. Hiding the injustice, the cruelty, from the citizens. And when it was revealed? They did nothing. It was normal, they reasoned. Normal had become irrelevant, after the years of corruption finally broke down the country that had thought it had been great. On the surface, indifference. But on the inside.... Inside each citizen, a writhing ball of hatred screamed to be set free, to right the injustices, the destroy everything just for the chance to start over. But there was nothing to be done. Chains forged by the citizens themselves weighed down the only chance at redemption. The routine didn't change. Lives were measured by color, gender, likes, personal lives people decided they had a right to meddle in. Slowly, the country began to kill its people. Fellow human beings were massacred over small, insignificant details. So the rest of the world watched as America crumbled beneath the weight of its corruption.
