Just watch the DVD logo hit the corner, you can also add the hype meter up to show how hyped you are. Imagine you went off to get popcorn or you lost your remote (something like that) and you come and and you are about to see a dvd logo hit the corner. Press H to increase the hype meter!

Total corner hits (Scratchers) is how many corner hits people have ever seen. Keep in mind that the hype meter and total corner hits (scratchers) can only be used by people with the Scratcher status, if you are a new scratcher, the cloud variable will not change.
