Instructions >> Double-click the flag to begin. While in the overworld: - Arrow keys to move your ship - Press 'z' to view your quests - Click on a merchant to attack - Press 'i' to visit an island (while on screen) - Press 'q' to visit a quest island (while on screen) In overworld without merchant or quest island: - Click the ocean to fish While fishing: - Rotate the reel with your mouse In combat: Each turn you may do one action, before your opponent does the same. Merchants range in level from 1-3, with 3 being the most difficult to defeat. - Move: After selecting this action, hold the arrow key of the direction you wish to go. - Fire Cannons: After selecting, press the space key to fire your cannons. Your cannons will deal more damage at closer range. Ranges possible are 1-3, as shown by the range bar shown when performing this action. - Reload: You may only fire cannons as many times as you have ammunition. Use this action to reload your ammunition. - Retreat: Costs 75 gold. The battle counts as a defeat, but you will not lose your gold. Battle Results: - Victory: You will claim all gold and goods the ship carried as your own. - Defeat: You will lose all of your gold. In addition, you will start the next battle with 20 damage, unless you repair your ship at an island beforehand. On an island: There are six actions available on the island. - Repair: Costs 50 gold. Repairs your ship to full health if damaged. - Sell Fish: Each fish may be converted to a minimum of 50 gold, with ranges up to 75. - Sell goods: Goods are worth half as much as gold. - Buy vital goods: Costs 100 gold. Reloads all vital supplies back to 100. *Vital supplies represent things like water and rations. If they are reduced to zero, you will start to lose gold. - Leave: Returns the player to the overworld. - Upgrade: Costs 300 gold. Improves an aspect of your ship permanently. You may upgrade health, damage, ammunition capacity, or map speed. On a quest island: Here you will meet the elder octopus, who will give you a quest. You may only have one quest at a time. Press 'z' in the overworld to view your quest. Completing a quest will net you 300 gold.
