UPDATE: I have made an updated version of the game, which features several improvements. I recommend that you play it at this link instead: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/470686678/ Controls: You control the highlighted grey car with the arrow keys, but be careful, as you can't turn while you're in the grass. Remember that you WILL have to brake to take these corners safely, and keep in mind that each track drives differently and will require a different amount of braking, just like in real life. Any damage that you do accrue can be repaired by driving through pit lane (no stopping necessary). Intro: Welcome to the Stock Car Championship, a 2D rendition of America's most popular motorsport! Here, you get to play through an entire ten-race season, with tracks ranging from Talladega Superspeedway to the paperclip at Martinsville. Features include adjustable AI, simple collision physics, damage, pit stops, drafting, corner-cutting prevention, and an elimination-style championship format, which is explained in-game. Hopefully, you can bring home the trophy. Thanks for playing!
This project was made 100% from Scratch (pun intended). It took several days of programming, so I appreciate any positive and/or constructive comments. I am aware of one glitch where the starting grid won't load on the first race, in which case you just have to restart by hitting the green flag again. There is also a phenomenon where the championship standings are not perfectly in order of points; I have no intention of changing this, as it reflects random post-race penalties that slightly jumble the order.
