Orienteering is a useful skill when you are lost and when you are participating in an orienteering course. This game exposes you to the challenge of finding direction in the midst of chaos. If you only care to know how to use a compass, then just playing regardless of score is okay as you can have negative points which mean nothing in terms of the highscore. So have at it! There are three difficulties each with its advantages and disadvantages. Due to the compass being virtual, there is a tolerance involved with each difficulty. That means you can be off by a certain amount of degrees, and you will still earn the points. Remember the key to orienteering is accuracy, so you will like to be as accurate as possible. You can also switch between modes while keeping your points intact by clicking the "Menu" button and then clicking on another difficulty. General Instructions: To rotate the Compass Dial, click on it (no need to hold it down) and then click again so it locks in position. To rotate the Compass Base, click on it (no need to hold it down) and then click again so it locks in position. Once you think you have the right angle, click the "Check" button in the bottom right. Easy: Easy difficulty will just ask you to orient the compass any angle between 2 and 358 degrees. The desired angle will be a multiple of 2 to match the increments of the compass. This difficulty has a tolerance of plus or minus 3 degrees of accuracy. Each angle you get correct will earn you 1 point, and you do not lose points if you get it wrong. This is the safest way to earn points, but it is also the slowest. Medium: This mode asks you to orient the compass in a quadrant with any angle between 1 and 89 degrees. The Compass How To's explains this better. This difficulty has a tolerance of plus or minus 2 degrees of accuracy. You will earn two points for each correctly oriented angle, but you will also lose one if you happen to be incorrect. This way is semi-fast and semi-dangerous, so be careful. Hard: This difficulty asks for an angle in a quadrant between 1 and 89 degrees and has the North Arrow pointing in a more realistic direction (aka not straight up). The tolerance for this difficulty is the lowest at plus or minus 1 degree of accuracy! Orienting these angles correctly will earn you 4 points, but will lose you 2 points if it is incorrect. This one is the most time consuming and dangerous, but it is also the most rewarding and realistic. Happy orienteering adventures to you!
Fixed rotation problems that occurred online. If during easy mode you encounter an odd-numbered degree, just click the "Menu" button and return to easy. Thank you to Scratch for the buttons and arrows that I used! Also thank you to zazzle.com for the original compass sprite before I made changes. If you are wondering how I made this project, please just private message SPECIFIC questions. Thank you!
