~ A Sound as Loud as Thunder ~ A poem that I wrote for school, but am also entering in the SWC Contest :) Use left and right arrow keys to go through the poem, or if you're on a phone or tablet, then you can read the poem below: Sunlight beaming through the clear glass, Casting golden glows over the room. Outside, the sound of laughter As a group of schoolchildren head towards the museum, Ecstatic to be going on their first school trip. Next, a mother pushing a pram passes Sleeping soundly, a newborn is tucked under thick blankets, Arms wrapped around a soft toy rabbit. A white car then drives past Adorned with flowers and a pink ribbon Carrying inside a newly wed couple. A grey cloud looms overhead As a woman hurries towards the car park Speaking with her husband over the phone She promises, “I’ll be home soon.” The rain begins to fall heavily now, Droplets racing down the clear glass. Suddenly, an echoing noise sounds, A sound as loud as thunder, The unmistakable sound of a gunshot. ~
