Press SPACE to start from the title screen. This game can be played between 2 and 6 teams but it is optimized for 4 and is unfair for 5. The game is played in three stages; you must manually navigate between them using the LEFT and RIGHT arrow keys and know what phase you are in by observing the display in the top right corner of the screen. It starts automatically in phase one: the team icons are clicked and a place on the board is claimed, placing four tokens each turn. Once all 48 animals are secured and checked by a zookeeper team, move on to phase two. Phase two consists of the zookeeper teams taking a single turn and eliminating two opposing team claims by releasing those animals. This is done by clicking on the icons while in phase two. Once all teams have had their elimination turn, move on to phase three. Phase three is the tallying stage. The revealing button will appear at the bottom of the screen; clicking it will display the Elephant point value. Thereafter, each time SPACE is pressed an area's point value is shown. Once all point values are displayed, count to see which team claims the points. The zookeepers with the most claims in a given area win that area's point value. A tie (e.g. two tokens each from two teams) results in the teams splitting the points. Once the totals are known, the winner is the team with the highest one.
Though a bigger icon, the Elephant is a single spot and can be claimed by only one team. It is supposed to be played as a high value claim that can be easily diminished in phase two. The point values for each of the areas are as follows: The Elephant.............(White).....always 10 Insect Garden............(Green)....random b/n 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 Aviary.........................(Yellow)....random b/n 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 Safari Zone................(Orange)...random b/n 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 Aquarium...................(Blue)........random b/n 2, 4, 6 Marine Exhibit............(Pink)........random b/n 0, 3, 6 Primate Building.........(Purple).....random b/n 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Reptile House.............(Red).........random b/n 2, 3, 4 American Showcase...(Gray).......random b/n 1 and 6 The next step is to make it so that you don't have to manually progress through each of the phases and the counting for the points is automatically done. But for the purposes of being used as a classroom game, it works sufficiently.
