Click on the logo to start. This is the "top board" of a variant of the classic game of Battleship. It is only meant to be used to keep track of hits and misses of each team. The individual screens can be toggled using the LEFT and RIGHT arrow keys; click on the grid to change the desired tile's value. The team that takes their turn first is randomly selected at the start of the grid population. To play, draw a 8x6 grid on two pieces of paper. Each team gets four ships: one that's four tiles long, another that's three, another that's two, and a final single tile ship. They are placed anywhere on the team's paper grids and the first team to destroy all of their opponent's ships win.
For use in the classroom, I'd suggest using the Salvo variation (i.e. the number of shots a team can make on their turn equals the number of ships they still have that are not destroyed). Also, the best setup for this configuration I've found is a ship that is four squares in length, on that's three, one that's two, and a final one that's one for each team.
